Former Tau Omega Basilei Appointed to Key Leadership Roles

The 2025 Leadership Retreat in Detroit, MI, marked a proud moment for the Tau Omega Chapter as three of our former Basilei were appointed or elected to influential leadership positions within Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and beyond.

Bro. Gerry McCants, Zeta ’79 (Tau Omega Basileus, 2016–2018) was re-appointed to the Board of the Omega Psi Phi Credit Union and continues his impactful service as the Economic Development Chair for the NAACP for the State of North Carolina. Bro. McCants remains a steadfast advocate for economic empowerment, financial literacy, and expanded access to capital, driving initiatives that uplift African American communities across the state and nation.

Bro. Eric Eley, Eta Lambda ’81 (Tau Omega Basileus, 2020–2022) was elected to the Omega Psi Phi Credit Union Board, where his professional expertise and visionary leadership will help shape the Credit Union’s strategic growth, enhance member services, and expand its reach across the fraternity.

Bro. Wilson Lester, Tau Omega ’13 (Tau Omega Basileus, 2022–2024) was appointed to serve two four-year terms on the Board of the Friendship Foundation, Inc., which manages the fraternity’s real estate assets. With a background in private equity, economic development, and asset management, Bro. Lester is well-positioned to ensure the responsible stewardship and sustainable growth of these vital holdings.

These appointments reflect the deep bench of leadership cultivated within Tau Omega and the continued impact of our chapter’s past Basilei on the fraternity’s institutions and the communities we serve. We salute Brothers McCants, Eley, and Lester for their ongoing commitment to excellence, leadership, and service.

Friendship is Essential to the Soul.
